KATA & KOBUDO RULES

 

The Tournament Director reserves the right to combine divisions where he sees fit.

  • All contestants must wear a clean, white karate gi.

 

KATA RULES

  1. All Contestants must perform a Japanese or Okinawan Kata.

  2. Beginner and intermediate must perform basic kata such as:  Heian, Pinan, Gekisai, and any other similarly categorized kata. 

  3. Saifa is okay for Goju practitioners. 

  4. Advance belts may perform any kata.

  5. In case of a tie, the lowest score of the three remaining scores is added in.  If there is still a tie the highest score of the three remaining scores is added in.  If a tie persists, beginners may perform the same kata, all others must perform a different kata.

 

KOBUDO RULES

  1. Loss of control shall result in disqualification.

  2. All weapons are subject to inspection by officials.

DIVISION CATEGORIES

  • Beginner:  7th Kyu and below

  • Intermediate:  6th , 5th , and 4th Kyu

  • Brown Belt:  3rd Kyu, 2nd Kyu, and 1st Kyu

  • Advance:  black and brown belts combined

  • Black Belt:  black belts only
